Malvika: Hi Vinoda, before we begin, could you tell us more about your current work profile?

Vinoda: Currently, I am a Software Engineer in Larsen & Toubro Infotech. I’ve been trained in mainframe, COBOL and database language.

I’m working in the cards business where our client provides those payments services in European countries. I’ve been working in the development process like getting the card orders that we will be promising in the backend and we will be routing it to the card manufacturers and the details for every card will be saved in our database.

I’m happy I’m working here for the past 3 years.

Malvika: What got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?

Vinoda: I’ve been interested in Data Science since coming into the IT field.

I wanted to switch over to Data Science because it is a trending technology and it will be very important in the upcoming years.

Malvika:  What are some of the initial challenges you faced when you got started on your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?

Vinoda: Learning Python was a bit challenging. I didn’t face many challenges being from this field but switching to Python from COBOL was a little difficult.

Sometimes due to office work, I don’t really find time to practice on real-time data-sets. So I need to allocate time for that as well.

Malvika: Crafting a great Data Science resume is a critical part of getting shortlisted for Data Science roles. Tell us some ways in which you have improved your resume as part of Data Science Career Launchpad.

Vinoda: I didn’t know how to build a resume when shifting from one domain to another domain as a fresher.

I had no previous experience and the Career Launchpad really helped me to directly jump into another technology. The INSAID team has helped me a lot in building my resume and with their feedback, I now have a good resume in my hand, and I am confident that I can apply for Data Science roles.

Malvika: Who is your favorite faculty at INSAID and what did you learn from him the most?

Vinoda: I have two favorite faculty at INSAID.

Suchit really teaches you how to achieve your goals and get your hands dirty.
he exudes confidence even if your energies are low and that’s very inspiring.

The next faculty is Deepesh. His teaching methodology is very unique and he answers all queries very patiently and clearly.

Malvika: What are the current trends in Data Science that you are most excited about?

Vinoda: I have been following Natural Language Processing for a while. I got interested through Alexa and I searched the internet to understand the architecture and the basic model behind it.

NLP will be the future and it will reduce our efforts significantly.

Malvika: How has your journey with INSAID been so far? Do you have any comments on how the curriculum has been structured, the faculty and the support team?

Vinoda: The classes are very good. The faculty is very helpful not only during classes but also when I’m undertaking some project.

I am very happy that I chose INSAID for starting my career in Data Science and Machine Learning.

Malvika: Thank you for your time, Vinoda. All the best for your future!
