In Talks with R R Jagadish Kumar I Accredian Spotlight

R R Jagadish Kumar has been into software for his entire career. And although he came across several data driven models and automation processes, he never got a chance to fully explore the world of data science. So in his pursuit to expand his skills in data science and machine learning, he looked up data science course in Hyderabad and enrolled for the Global Certificate in Data Science (GCD) program at Accredian.

In this interview, let’s find out his take on data science and machine learning and how he plans to use it as a professional skill.

Question 1: Which program & batch are you part of at Accredian & tell us more about your current work profile?

Jagadish: I am part of the Global Certificate in Data Science (GCD) program, September 2020 batch at Accredian. I have over 15 years of experience and I am currently the associate quality assurance manager at Jocata.

Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?

Jagadish: Being an active professional for over 15 years, my career started with support engine QA testing, then I moved on to essence sorting in QA, senior software testing and then lead. Right now, I hold the position of an assistant manager. Evidence-based decision-making is crucial to my day-to-day activities and has been so throughout the several roles I have taken up in my career. I have come across various data driven models and automation and I think data science would really help solve complex problems for my customers. That’s why I opted for Accredian’s online data science course in Hyderabad.

Question 3: What tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at Accredian so far?

Jagadish: There were no major pitfalls per say but learning is taking a little bit of time. I am trying to master Python and packages like Matplotlib, NumPy, Pandas, and Scikit.

Question 4: What are some initial challenges when you got started on your Data Science journey, and how did you overcome them?

Jagadish: Understanding the basic concepts of statistics, connecting statistics to machine learning and comprehending the math behind the libraries and packages related to the Christian classification models were a bit confusing. But I am reading a lot of data science blogs to overcome them and I am gradually getting better at it.

Question 5: What is the goal of Data Science?

Jagadish: Data science predominantly has three crucial roles to play: the first one is efficient data-driven decision making, the second is building intelligent automation and the third is making life easy.

Question 6: In your view, how has Data Science evolved in the last few years?

Jagadish: Data is like oxygen for building machine learning models. Now the availability of data and also algorithms to pre-process the information has evolved enormously. Implementation of its use cases led to machine learning, whose application, in turn, has increased manifold. That’s why a data science course in Hyderabad or in any city in India is crucial for professionals to upskill as soon as they can.

Question 7: Which are some of the blogs that you follow?

Jagadish: The blogs that I usually follow are AnalyticsVidhya and KDnuggets.

Question 8: What is your advice to anyone wanting to start a career in Data Science?

Jagadish: I think anyone can take up data science course in Hyderabad or anywhere in the world. It doesn’t matter if you are a programmer or a non-programmer unless you understand the concept you need. You have to sit with them, read, practice and learn them for a successful implementation. Apart from that, we’ll also have to understand the concepts of descriptive and inferential statistics before starting the MIS learning concepts. Once we complete the basic statistics, we need to begin hands-on implementation of machine learning concepts in any of the programming languages like Python, Julia, etc. using data sets.
