In Talk with Chandralekha From Naagarjuna The Nextgen School I Accredian Spotlight

Being the vice principal of a school, Chandralekha always nurtured her love for studying and learning. But now, after she got to know about data science and AI in India, she not only wants to explore and learn more about the field but also aims to build her career in it. And, that’s why she enrolled for the Global Certificate in Data Science (GCD) program at Accredian

In this interview, let’s see what inspired her to pursue a career in data science and how her experience has been at Accredian

Question 1: Which program & batch are you part of at Accredian & tell us more about your current work profile?

Chandralekha: I am part of the Global Certificate in Data Science (GCD) program, August 2020 batch. I am currently working as a vice principal. Prior to this I had five years of experience in teaching. I take care of the whole academics in my school.  

Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?

Chandralekha: I started my career in 2014 as a credit process associate in the banking sector and within eight months of my joining I got promoted. However, due to certain family commitments, I had to change my career to the education sector

I find data science to be an interesting subject to learn and have a career in. And because I already have an interest in AI in India and have all the time I need to focus on a formal course right now, I enrolled at Accredian

Question 3: What tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at Accredian so far?

Chandralekha: So far, I have learned Python, and its various libraries like Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, and Seaborn. I also learned about machine learning, and AI in India and I am about to learn Tableau as well.

Question 4: What are some initial challenges when you got started on your Data Science journey, and how did you overcome them?

Chandralekha: As I don’t have a data science background, understanding what data is, how it is analyzed and how to get an output from it were some of my major challenges. However, as I am a quick learner, I managed to learn faster, and now I submit my assignments on time without any delays or errors.

Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian, and what did you learn from him the Most?

Chandralekha: Mr. Darshan is my favorite faculty. He is an excellent trainer who explains any complex logic and coding in detail. He repeats the same information multiple times so that we always have the lessons at the back of our minds. And that has helped a lot.  

Question 6: What is the goal of Data Science?

Chandralekha: The goal of data science is to analyze and extract information from the given data to understand how valuable information flows in a business and predict future risks so that any unforeseen threat can be overcome. 

Question 7: In your view, how has Data Science evolved in the last few years?

Chandralekha: Data science has remarkably grown over a few years. In fact the industry is expanding 20 percent faster each year. Right now, more businesses need data science to analyze raw data to not just to increase their revenue but also for mitigating risks and making optimized decisions. 

Question 8: What are the current trends in Data Science that you are most excited about?

Chandralekha: AI in India, automation and cloud computing are the two current trends in data science that interest me the most. 

Question 9: Which are some of the blogs that you follow?

Chandralekha: I follow LinkedIn, Quora and GitHub

Question 10: What is your advice to anyone wanting to start a career in Data Science?

Chandralekha: It’s an excellent career path and anyone wanting to take up a data science course should definitely go for it and should also become an expert in AI in India.
