A software engineer, Sagar Sridhar is always on a quest to explore more in the world of technologies. However, when he stumbled upon data science and machine learning, he couldn’t turn back. And, that’s when he enrolled for the Global Certificate in Data Science program at Accredian.
In this interview, let’s see what excites him the most about data science and how his learning experience has been at Accredian.
Question 1: Which program & batch are you part of at Accredian & tell us more about your current work profile?
Sagar: I am part of the Global Certificate in Data Science (GCD) program, January 2020 cohort. I have eight-plus years of experience. For seven years I have been involved as a final administrator, which is basically a content management system wherein we manage all the documents in the file tool. And I’m currently working at Legato Health Technologies.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Sagar: Well, I hold more than eight years of experience in AI. Throughout my career, I have worked in different companies. I started my career with PPL then I moved into Datamatics Global Services Limited and I worked for Cognizant for almost three years.
For the last six months, I am looking for better opportunities in health technologies. Previously, my work mostly involved content management which was primarily used on IBM technologies. I have also worked as a FileNet administrator.
One day when I was casually browsing on the internet, I came across data science programs and machine learning. After a long search, I realized that machine learning and data science will be the future along with artificial intelligence and that fueled my interest in it and opt for the data science program at Accredian.
Question 3: What all tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at Accredian so far?
Sagar: I feel that data science and machine learning have a lot and a long way to go. In the data science program at Accredian, I have learned Python basic along with NumPy, Pandas, and its other libraries.
Question 4: What were some of the initial challenges when you got started on your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?
Sagar: I am not from a coding background. I have not used Python previously. And I had learned statistics a long time before I was in college. In the data science program at Accredian, we were given two Starter-kits before the actual classes began. We had gone through all the basics of Python and statistics. I had to do a lot of practice.
Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian and what did you learn from him the Most?
Sagar: My favorite faculty is Mr. Suchit. He makes sure that we are on the right track. He is very patient and his way of delivery is amazing.
Question 6: Which are some of the blogs that you follow?
Sagar: During my data science program, I went through several blogs to learn more about machine learning and data science but I feel the best place where one can find valid information on them are Medium and Quora.
