In her quest to try out a different domain in her career, senior executive, Pavani Sai came across the field of data science, machine and AI. And, even though she had her initial jitters for not having a programming background, she went for it anyway. After looking up and weighing out her options for the best data science course available, she enrolled for the Certificate in Data Science (CDF) program at Accredian.
In this interview, lets see what inspired her to take up a formal course on data science at Accredian and how her learning experience has been.
Question 1: Which program & batch are you part of at Accredian & tell us more about your current work profile?
Pavani: I am part of the Certificate in Data Science Foundation (CDF) program, August 2020 Batch. Presently, I’m working as a senior executive in business development.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Pavani: I completed my B tech in 2012. Later, I worked for HCL, Bengaluru. In 2015, I joined NCL Veka Limited in the business development team. Wanting to go for a domain transition, I got to know about data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence. In the beginning, I was a bit worried since I come from a non programming background. Later I realized that all the future opportunities are in this industry went for the best data science course at Accredian.
Question 3: What all tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at Accredian so far?
Pavani: I learned Python language, Machine learning, Tableau, etc. However, it will still take some time for me to master them completely.
Question 4: What were some of the initial challenges when you got started on your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?
Pavani: As I am from a non-programming background, initially Python was pretty difficult for me to understand. Later I worked it out by watching some of the videos available in the starter kits of Accredian and other YouTube videos. I have also started reading some of the blogs related to data science.
Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian and what did you learn from him the Most?
Pavani: My favorite faculty is Mr. Suchit. I have attended his Github Session. He has great delivery skills & brilliant sense of understanding. His patience to clear all the students’ queries is commendable. He along with the other faculties make Accredian’s course the best data science course online.
Question 6: Which are some of the blogs that you follow?
Pavani: I follow Kaggle, Quora, etc.
Question 7: What is your advice to anyone wanting to start a career in Data Science?
Pavani: My advice to all who wish to start their career in data science is to be confident with their decision to step into the industry. Don’t be afraid if you don’t have a programming background; you will gradually master it.
