Malvika: Hi Monali, before we begin, could you tell us more about your current work profile and your career trajectory so far?
Monali: Currently I am a Data Science Practitioner.
I’m an Electronics Engineer and after that I completed my PGDM + MBA in Telecom Systems from MIT School of Technology Management Institute.
I then completed a summer internship with TATA Communication. I was working on a project like TTL NMS targetted to check the manageability of UBR and help to reduce RE ticket booked.
Malvika: What got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Monali: Regarding Data Science, I’m like being a technology-driven person; I like to get involved with software and hardware alike.
Automation, Artificial Intelligence, NLP, cloud computing and Internet of Things are trending.
They influence the explanation of augmented analysis and innovation in data storage of this technology. These are a few interesting aspects that got me interested.
Malvika: What all tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at Accredian so far?
Monali: I really look forward to using NumPy for the numerical evaluation.
Pandas for Data pre-profiling and post profiling, Matplotlib for digitalization & visualization, TensorFlow for Deep Learning are the tools I’m comfortable with.
Malvika: At Accredian, students are encouraged to build high-quality GitHub profiles. Have you built a GitHub portfolio and how do you think this will help you?
Monali: I built my GitHub profile for Machine Learning itself.
The sessions helped me realize whatever we are executing and uploading can create awareness and it can create knowledge for many users and recruiters.
Malvika: Crafting a great Data Science resume is a critical part of getting shortlisted for Data Science roles. Tell us some ways in which you have improved your resume as part of Data Science Career Launchpad.
Monali: This session was really useful for me as I’m a job seeker. I learned to frame my resume according to Accredian’s criteria and according to their CV structure and also submitted the same for review.
It was interesting to know the different job roles and levels in the market and how to customize my resume accordingly.
Malvika: Accredian’s mission is to Groom Data Leaders of tomorrow. What do you understand by a Data Leader? And how is a Data Leader different from a Data Scientist?
Monali: A Data Leader is a pioneer.
He is consistent and can catch up with the trends and technology and as well as the logic behind the changes because a leader is always better at intercepting technology transitions as compared to his team.
He provides the necessary platform to other Data Scientists to be most productive.
Malvika: What is the goal of Data Science? In your view, how has Data Science evolved in the last few years?
Monali: Data Science constructs the meaning of data.
Data Science derives insights from unstructured or structured data. This requires an understanding of how value and information flows in the business and it creates the ability to use the understanding or to identify the business opportunity.
The evolution of Data Science has followed the patterns discovered by data over the years. Like right now, Machine Learning is all the buzz because this has been promising results for some time now.
Malvika: How has your journey with Accredian been so far? Do you have any comments on how the curriculum has been structured, the faculty and the support team?
Monali: I learned a lot from Suchit. He is a very energetic and enthusiastic person.
I look forward to the same level of energy from other trainers as well.
