Student Name: Hari Kesava SreeVenkata Ramana Reddy Gujju
Current Organization: Tata Consultancy Services
Batch: GCDAI – September 2019
Total years of experience: 5 years
Malvika: Hi Hari, before we begin, could you tell us more about your current work profile and your career trajectory so far?
Hari: I started my professional career in 2014 as a System Engineer at IGATE Global Solutions, which was later acquired by Capgemini.
There I was working as a VMware Administrator for Union Bank of California, which was my client. We dealt with all VMware issues and I have worked with vSphere, 5.5 5.0 and 6.0 as well.
I was very enthusiastic to study Data Science and Data Engineering. Since December 2017, I have been associated with TCS where I’ve been a SQL Administrator as well. While working as a SQL Administrator, I completed my certification in Amazon Web Services as well.
Malvika: What are some of the initial challenges you faced when you got started on your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?
Hari: My initial challenges were obviously programming and even a bit of statistics because it has been a long time since I’ve dealt with stats.
When I started my course at Accredian, I wasn’t a very skilled programmer. Suchit helped me a lot because the way he explained most programming to me was very encouraging.
So we kept on practicing the assignments given by him and later on, it became quite comfortable for me.
Malvika: What all tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at Accredian so far?
Hari: The main packages were NumPy and Pandas. So, these we use every now and then. Next would be the Plotly, Seaborn, and Matplotlib.
Malvika: What is the goal of Data Science? In your view, how has Data Science evolved in the last few years?
Hari: The goal of Data Science would be to guide you to predict trends as accurately as possible.
I’ll take an example of sales now. E-commerce sites have recommendations for users. So how do the machines know what recommendations to give to whom? Who is tracking this data and how? This can be achieved through Data Science.
Malvika: Crafting a great Data Science resume is a critical part of getting shortlisted for Data Science roles. Tell us some ways in which you have improved your resume as part of Data Science Career Launchpad.
Hari: The first takeaway for me from the Resume sessions was how to write the first line of your resume.
Beginning from that, it was really helpful for me so because my previous resume was completely different to what I have now. It is more accurate as well as more centered towards me than the previous one.
We also had a GitHub session. I found out about GitHub at Accredian itself. Now I’m preparing my own markdowns and my own Data Science folder where I can display my project works for everyone to see.
Malvika: Which are some of the blogs that you follow?
Hari: I follow Medium and towardsdatascience as well.
Malvika: How has your journey with Accredian been so far? Do you have any comments on how the curriculum has been structured, the faculty and the support team?
Hari: I am very comfortable with the batch, the instructors and the way my classes have been progressing.
Malvika: Thank you for your time, Hari. All the best for your future!
