In conversation with Ritu Srivastava from GCD 2021

In this INSAID Spotlight interview, we feature Ritu Srivastava, Ex-Assistant Manager at Indosolar Limited. Her deep quest for knowledge motivated her to upskill and upgrade in Data Science and Machine Learning. She enrolled in the Global Certification in Data Science program at INSAID.

Question 1: Which program & batch are you part of at INSAID? Tell us about your current work profile. 

Ritu: I’m a part of the Global Certification in Data Science program, June 2021 batch. I have over 10 years of experience in a manufacturing company where I supervised production workflow and process optimization for increasing efficiency. 

Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?

Ritu: At Indosolar Limited, I got promoted from an Engineer to an Assistant Manager over a span of 10 years. I got the opportunity to work closely in the production system for solar cells and was also responsible to produce analytical reports and recommendations to enhance productivity.

As I was keen to gather more knowledge in the field, I decided to pursue a course at INSAID.

Question 3: What tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered at INSAID so far?

Ritu: I have hands-on experience working on tools like Jupyter, Python libraries using NumPy, Pandas, and Data Visualization using Matplotlib and Seaborn.

Question 4: What challenges did you face when you started your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?

Ritu: Being from a non-programming background it took me some time to master Python but LMS study material made it easier. Moreover, the recorded sessions at INSAID are really helpful.

Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at INSAID and what did you learn from them?

Ritu: I would like to appreciate the sessions taken by Deepesh Wadwani.

Deepesh not only ensures that the content is appropriate and relevant to the topic but also makes the sessions super interactive. I thoroughly enjoyed his classes.

Question 6: What is the goal of Data Science?

Ritu: The goal of Data Science is analyzing the Insights from data in real-time and solving business challenges across different fields.

Question 7: What advice would you give to Data Science beginners?

Ritu: I would recommend taking up relevant courses and gathering a lot of information along with hands-on practical exposure using applications of tools and datasets.
