In this Accredian Spotlight interview, we feature Arun Vignesh B, a Project Engineer at Wipro. His insatiable passion for knowledge and upskilling led him to enroll in the Certificate for Data Science Foundation course at Accredian.
Question 1: Which program & batch are you a part of at Accredian & tell us more about your current work profile?
Arun: I’m a part of the CDF July 2021 batch. I’m currently working at Wipro.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Arun: First, I got trained in tools like Python, Teradata DB, SQL, PLSQL. My first project was about creating a dashboard in Spotfire and daily shipment and report. I finally decided to enroll in a program at Accredian.
Question 3: What tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered at Accredian so far?
Arun: I’ve learned Python, Pandas, Numpy, Seaborn, and Matplotlib.
Question 4: What challenges did you face when you started your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?
Arun: One of the challenges was in the first project I created a dashboard in Spotfire and automated it. Due to the massive load in the database, the time required to get the data from the DB increased and the automation failed. I overcame the sue by scheduling the automation in off-peak load time.
Question 5: What is the goal of Data Science?
Arun: The goal of Data Science is to explore, sort, and analyze mega data from various sources to take advantage of them and reach conclusions to optimize business processes or for decision support.
Question 7: How has Data Science evolved in the last few years?
Arun: Data Science has evolved to such a level where homogeneous cohorts are shown similar messages. With the use of big data analytics techniques, brands can show an individualized message to every customer, based on their preference. One-to-one marketing has become a reality.
Question 8: What advice would you give to a beginner in Data Science?
Arun: A degree in software engineering, computer science, or information technology will give you a flying start.
