In Conversation with Annapureddy Soma Sekhara Venkat Reddy from Mylan Laboratories

In this Accredian Spotlight interview, we feature Annapureddy Soma Sekhara Venkat Reddy, an Analytical Validation Method Scientist working in the Pharmaceutical Industry. His insatiable quest for knowledge and upskilling led him to enroll in the Post Graduate Program in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence at Accredian.

Question 1: Which program & batch are you a part of at Accredian & tell us more about your current work profile?

Soma: I am a part of the PGP in Data Science & AI, December 2020 batch, and currently, I’m working as an Analytical Method Validation Scientist at Mylan Laboratories, Hyderabad. 

Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?

Soma:: I have been working as a Scientist where I validate the complex analytical methods which are used to quantify the number of drugs or impurities present in the medicine. I am interested in pursuing further in the field and hence decided to take up a course at Accredian.

Question 3: What tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered at Accredian so far?

Soma: I work with Python and its packages like NumPy, Pandas for data processing and calculations. For Data Visualization I work with Matplotlib. I am also working with Jupyter Notebook, Google Collab and Power BI.

Question 4: What challenges did you face when you started your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?

Soma: The first challenge that I faced was to work with programming tools so, I used to practice the problems regularly and revise before the classes. Also, time management is another challenge that I handled by allocating time to different activities and managing my course at Accredian well.

Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian and what did you learn from them?

Soma: My favorite instructor is Subhodeep because his expertise in the subject is superb. He is disciplined, a wonderful mentor, and is extremely patient with students.

Question 6: What is the goal of Data Science?

Soma: The goal of Data Science is to extract Insights to understand how information and value flow into business to identify opportunities and improve business processes to reduce human errors to the most possible level.

Question 7: How has Data Science evolved in the last few years?

Soma: Data Science has evolved very fast in the last few years. Eg. most Hospitals are using Data Science in Medical Imaging and Clinical mapping and Genetic mapping. In Financial institutions techniques of Data Science are being used in fraud detection, loan worthiness, etc. Moreover, stock market predictions are also being done with the help of Data Science tools.

Question 8: What current trends in Data Science are you most excited about?

Soma: I’m very fascinated by the concepts of Data Fabric and Small Data.

Question 9: Which are some of the blogs that you follow?

Soma: I follow Analytics Vidhya & Towards Data Science.

Question 10: What advice would you give to a beginner in Data Science?

Soma: I recommend beginners to start getting awareness in the field, practice, and solve problems of Statistics and Mathematics.

Be thorough with the concepts, gather as much knowledge as you can, and enroll in a course at Accredian would definitely help.
