In this Accredian Spotlight interview, we feature Jayanta Dash, a Product Manager with over 10 years of experience. He is currently associated with Edcast Inc. His insatiable quest for knowledge and upskilling led him to enrol in the Global Certificate in Product Management at Accredian.
Question 1: Which program & batch are you part of at Accredian & tell us more about your current work profile?
Jayanta: I am a part of the GPCM– Oct 2021 batch.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Product Management?
Jayanta: Currently I am working in the Ecommerce Marketplace as a Product Manager for both B2B & B2C industries.
Question 3: What all Product Management concepts, frameworks & tools have you mastered in your program at Accredian so far?
Jayanta: The tools that I have mastered so far are:
- Product Design, Building of products, UI & UX
- Jira, Shopify, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Magento, Hybris, Scrum, Agile, Sprint, SAP, Oracle, Asana etc.
Question 4: What are some of the initial challenges when you got started on your Product Management journey and how did you overcome it?
Jayanta: The initial challenges that I faced were:
- Building a new product for B2B clients,
- Understanding the scope of the projects
- Timeline of the project
- Problem statement
- Launch of the product
Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian and what did you learn from them the most?
Jayanta: My favourites were:
- Ishaan Anand
- Khanjan Desai
- Prahalad
Question 6: In your view, what is the goal of product management & how has it evolved in the last few years?
Jayanta: Product management is the job of looking after a specific product within a business. It’s a role at the very heart of an organisation that needs to balance the need to deliver value to your company (usually profit) with what customers want and what’s technically and operationally possible.
Question 7: What are the current trends in Product Management that you are most excited about?
Jayanta: The current trends that I am excited about are:
- Digital products will be key to business growth
- The increased specialisation of product roles
- Rise of the product operations manager.

Question 9: Please tell how your journey has been with Accredian so far and what are the elements that you liked.
The journey is extremely beautiful. Learned and enjoyed it a lot.
Question 10: What is your advice to anyone wanting to start a career in Product Management?
Jayanta: In the current scenario I would say research and follow your path to becoming a great Product Manager.
