In this Accredian Spotlight interview, we feature Saoni Mukherjee, who is a Web Programmer. Her passion for learning led her to join the PGP in Data Science & AI, at Accredian.
Question 1: Which program & batch are you part of at Accredian & tell us more about your current work profile?
Saoni: I am a part of the PGPDSAI Program of June 20,2021 Batch. Currently, I am working as a web programmer. I mainly work with PHP, Laravel, CI, and except that I analyze the business requirements and design the database for the project.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Saoni: I joined as a fresher in the field of Web Development. At first, my job was to develop some blocks of functions, and then gradually I took full charge of the website building. I did the overall programming by working on a website, designing the database and analyzing the clients’ requirements, and delivering them accordingly. Right now I am in a different organization and my job is to maintain the website single-handedly.
I have been following these DS & ML trends for a long time and found them very interesting. It is very much related to my current job as I found that programming skill is needed in this field. I love to investigate facts about data and mathematics. As we are aware, Data is the new Oil so Data generation is growing day by day and the need to prepare them in a meaningful way is also increasing. And obviously, the salary package is also much more attractive than my current position.
Question 3: What tools and packages have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at Accredian so far?
Saoni: Well I have only completed the EDA section till now so I have mastered Anaconda, Jupyter, Python, Numpy, Pandas, and Matplotlib as of now.
Question 4: What initial challenges did you face when you started on your Data Science journey and how did you overcome them?
Saoni: As I was a little weak in the statistics and probability section so I was a little bit hesitant but when the class started and I started to follow the lectures, all doubts were cleared.
Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian and what did you learn from them the most?
Saoni: I have completed 2 terms till now – Data Analytics With Python and Machine Learning Foundation.
I personally liked Mr. Deepesh Wadhwani as he not only covered the course contents but also taught us various other concepts. His way of teaching got me enthusiastic and interested in the topics.
Question 6: What is the goal of Data Science?
Saoni: The main purpose of Data Science is to make a pattern out of data. We can create a meaningful insight from the raw data which looks like nothing in bare eyes.
Question 7: Which are some of the Data Science blogs that you follow?
Saoni: I majorly follow TowardsDataScience, Brainstation, and Analytics Magazine.
