Meet Naveen Kumar B, a determined data enthusiast from the December ’22 Cohort of Accredian’s PGP in Data Science & AI. He has been working as a QA Project Manager at Microchip Technology Inc.
Seeking to enhance his work experience and explore the world of Data Science & AI, Naveen enrolled into this world class Data Science & AI program. Let’s dive into Naveen ‘s journey and discover how Accredian helped him achieve his goals.
Question 1: Which program and batch are you part of at Accredian and tell us more about your current work profile.
Naveen: I am into PGP-DSAI program and November2022 Batch. I work as a Test Manager, taking the responsibilities of end to end quality deliverables across Enterprise Applications Data Engineering and Analytics team. I also responsible for hiring QA resources, grooming them and bringing them up to speed and standards.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science.
Naveen: I work in data related activities started with Backend data, BI reporting validations followed by ETL data validations. This keeps me motivated and interested to learn Data science and Machine learning so that its relevant to my current profile and can bring more value towards the organization that I work.
Question 3: What all tools and packages in Data Science have you mastered in your current program at Accredian so far?
Naveen: I am yet to master in many areas that I have learnt at Accredian, but so far I am comfortable with basics of Python coding, EDA process, Data modelling (Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, Decision Tree).
Question 4: What are some of initial challenges when you got started on your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?
Naveen: Most of my journey and learning at Accredian is going well, but to mention few areas that I had difficulties is towards statistics syllabus. I am yet to understand more topics from statistics and looking forward to apply them in real time.
Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian and what did you learn from him the most?
Naveen: To mention I have 2 favorite faculty members out of which one is Arun P who taught us Python and another one is Arul Francis who taught Machine Learning. They were really good.
Question 6: In your view, what is the goal of Data Science?
Naveen: The goal of Data Science is to solve more data related complex problems in industries. To understand the data patterns and build a model which can best suite and predict best patterns in ahead of business.
Question 7: How has Data Science evolved in last few years?
Naveen: Data Science evolved a lot in last few years to an extent where every organisation started thinking towards Data Science and identifying the key areas in their domain/business where they can build models which can produce more efficient results than present.
Question 8: What are the current trends in Data Science that you are most excited about?
Naveen: The current trends in Data Science that I am excited about are:
- Predictive Analysis
- Computer Vision
- Data Governance
Question 9: Which are some of the blogs that you follow?
Naveen: I have not been habituated so far on this practice, but looking forward to follow blogs related to data analytics and data science.
Question 10: What is your advice to anyone wanting to start a career in Data Science?
Naveen: By now, we all must have understood the growth and opportunities that every organisation is looking up to in terms of data. Data is becoming vital and key for organisation success helping them understanding and correcting their business. So I would definitely suggest our engineers to grown in Data Science and connect how data is playing a critical role everywhere.
