Accredian’s Spotlight Series: In talks with Divij Kumar S

Introducing Divij Kumar S, a motivated and skilled learner who has been a valuable part of Accredian’s Global Certificate in Data Science program since May 2022. Divij’s dedication to mastering the complexities of data science has been evident throughout his time with Accredian, and he has quickly become an asset to the program.

In his professional life, Divij works as a Test Designer, where he excels at designing test cases, managing stakeholders, communicating with inter-teams, preparing acceptance criteria, and more.

With his extensive experience in testing and a passion for data science, Divij is poised to make a significant impact in the world of data science and beyond.

Question 1: Which program and batch are you part of at Accredian and tell us more about your current work profile.

Divij: I have been a part of the GCD program at Accredian since May 2022. Currently, I work as a Test Designer, which involves designing test cases, managing stakeholders, communicating with inter-teams, preparing acceptance criteria, and more.

Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning.

Divij: I am currently in the early stages of my career, having started as a Designer Trainee and now working as an actual Test Designer. I have always been fascinated by the fields beyond data science and machine learning because of the different wonders they can create.

Question 3: What all tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at Accredian so far?

Divij: I have mastered Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, and Seaborn, among others. My current next task is to learn Debut.

Question 4: What are some of initial challenges when you got started on your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?

Divij: When I first began my data science journey, I faced challenges such as identifying the appropriate dataset, analyzing the right approach and techniques, and finding the appropriate datasets.

The solutions to these problems involve understanding the business requirements and utilizing modern tools. In some cases, I find the trial and error method to be perfect.

Question 5: What is the goal of Data Science?

Divij: I feel the goal of Data science is to retrieve data from the past and make use of it now for a better future. In essence, Data Science can be seen as a tool to help organizations make data-driven decisions and optimize their operations.

The goal is to use data to create positive change and improve outcomes, whether it be in business, healthcare, social sciences, or other fields. By making use of data from the past, data science can help pave the way for a better future.

Question 6: In your view, how has Data Science evolved in last few years?

Divij: Data Science has grown immensely in the last few years. Nowadays, data science is being applied not only as a corporate tool but also for the benefit of society.

For example, it is being used to prevent blindness and treat addiction to drugs and alcohol, and as an answer to eradicate poverty, among much more.

Question 7: What are the current trends in Data Science that you are most excited about?

Divij: The current trend in Data Science that is most fascinating is the ChatGPT application. I know it’s just a chatbot, but it’s quite fascinating as it’s like you’re chatting with a friend or someone from the other side. You can ask it questions, and you will probably get a perfect answer. So it’s quite fascinating.
