Q2: Walk us through your career journey and what got you interested in Data Science and  Machine Learning.

Swapnali: Well, since I work in the HR department, I have had the opportunity to experience various roles. I have communicated with individuals who manage client relationships and positions, and as a result, I have had to handle employee data.

This responsibility has prompted me to reflect on the importance of data and pushed me to pursue the field of data science in order to gain greater exposure to it.

Q3: What all tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at Accredian so far?

Swapnali: By discussing tools such as Python, Tableau, and programming tools such as Jupiter and Colab notebooks, one can observe that many packages are extensively used in projects.

For instance, libraries like pandas, NumPy, and Kotlin, Seaborn are commonly used in data science and other projects. Additionally, packages like GeoPandas, Scikit-learn, and Matplotlib are frequently utilized by professionals in this field.

Q4: What are some of initial challenges when you got started on your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?

Swapnali: The initial challenge for me in my data science journey was when I first became aware of it. Before that, I was comfortable with the coding aspect, but I lacked knowledge about data science. I was especially apprehensive about statistical domain knowledge in addition to programming and logic.

However, by the end of this program, I have gained a clear understanding of how to use data, implement it, and comprehend new concepts, as well as identify business needs and derive valuable insights from the data. I have learned a great deal from this program and have overcome my previous shortcomings.

Q5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian and what did you learn from him the most?

Swapnali: Throughout my program, I have had the opportunity to interact with various people from different faculties, such as Mr. Vivek Shankaran, Deepesh Wadhwani, Farooq Francis, and Mr. Vivek, all of whom have been extremely supportive and knowledgeable.

If I had to choose a favorite faculty member, it would be Mr. Deepesh Wadhwani due to his excellent teaching method. He explains concepts on paper using a pen and tells stories to help clarify basic ideas. I learned a lot from him, particularly his work attitude and hypothetical thinking, which I consider the best takeaways from his teachings. He has been an excellent mentor for me and has helped shape my career.

Q6: What is the goal of Data Science?

Swapnali: The goal of data science is to infer conclusions from the data that allow professionals to assist businesses in making more informed decisions.

Q7: In your view, how has Data Science evolved in last few years?

Swapnali: In my view, over the last few years, many businesses have become bogged down by data silos and inaccurate data processing, leading to the emergence of sub-sectors of data science aimed at improving data pipelines and ensuring that analytics work for everyone in an organization.

Swapnali: Emerging trends in data science or data analytics, artificial intelligence, big data, and businesses’ need to streamline their processes with data-driven models have led to a movement towards the cloud and automated analysis of data, as well as the use of data visualization and data-as-a-service models.

These are the current trends in the field of data science, and I am excited about them all because they are interconnected.

Q9: Which are some of the blogs that you follow?

Swapnali: Currently I am working on a project to gain practical experience with GitHub, Kaggle, and HackerRank profiles. I have not followed any blogs on this yet, but I plan to do so while working on the project.

Q10: What is your advice to anyone wanting to start a career in Data Science?

Swapnali: My advice is that data science is an ocean, and if you want to navigate through it, you should dedicate sufficient time to it because it is a research and development field that requires time to comprehend. Initially, it may seem daunting, but by the end of the program, you will gain more confidence and be able to use data effectively.
