In this Accredian Spotlight interview, we feature Raghuram TL, Technical Lead at Capgemini. His deep quest for knowledge motivated him to upskill and upgrade in Data Science and Machine Learning. He enrolled in the Post Graduate Program for Data Science & Artificial Intelligence program at Accredian.
Question 1: Which program & batch are you part of at Accredian? Tell us about your current work profile.
Raghuram: I am a part of the PGP DS & AI September 2020 cohort and I’m currently working as a Technical Lead for the Airbus program at Capgemini.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Raghuram: I’m a Mechanical engineer with a background in aerospace. I have over seven years of experience handling a team of 16 at Airbus and delivering the best in class BMU activity for aircraft assemblies.
I’m keen to add the flavor of Data science, ML, and AI in the Manufacturing sector of the aeronautical domain. This got me motivated to pursue a course at Accredian.
Question 3: What tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered at Accredian so far?
Raghuram: I’ve mastered Python and its various packages like NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib. I’ve also learned Auto ML, Tableau, and various other tools.
Question 4: What challenges did you face when you started your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?
Raghuram: Being a nonprogrammer by profession, learning Data Science was a huge challenge for me. But hard work and efforts along with Accredian classes and practice content helped me overcome this fear.
Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian and what did you learn from them?
Raghuram: I’m very fond of Darshan as he is always at his best in teaching in the most precise way. I’ve had a great time learning at Accredian.
Question 6: What is the goal of Data Science?
Raghuram: The goal of Data Science is to look for multiple possible ways to reduce human intervention and regulate optimization of resources with the up-gradation of technology.
Question 7: Which Data Science blogs do you follow?
Raghuram: I mostly follow Analytics Vidhya and Towards Data Science. I love accumulating knowledge and application of practical tools learned.
Question 8: What advice would you give to a beginner in Data Science?
Raghuram: My advice would be to focus on the implementation of knowledge gathered at Accredian. Always focus on the application of Data science in specific domains and try to explore the best possible solutions for business.
