In this Accredian Spotlight interview, we feature Parimal Kumar Sarangapurkar, a Regional Operations Manager working in the Finance Industry. His insatiable passion for knowledge and upskilling led him to enroll in the Post Graduate Program in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence program at Accredian.
Question 1: Which program & batch are you part of at Accredian & tell us more about your current work profile?
Parimal: I have opted for th PGP in Data Science & AI and joined June’21 batch. I’ve more than 15 years of experience in the financial service industry. I carry rich experience in operations, underwriting & working upon digital transformation projects within the organizations.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Parimal: During my recent business meet in Vienna, Austria, I came across the organization’s plans to introduce Data Science & ML in our underwriting & collection module. So, I got motivated to take up a course at Accredian for a great learning experience.
Question 3: What tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered at Accredian so far?
Parimal: I’ve got great exposure to Python, NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, and Seaborn. I’m looking forward to further upskilling at Accredian.
Question 4: What challenges did you face when you started your Data Science journey, and how did you overcome them?
Parimal: Being from a Non-Technical background learning Python was tough, Accredian starter kits and LMS recordings have been really helpful. And having worked on the worksheets, I’ve gained a lot of confidence on the topics explained.
Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian, and what did you learn from them?
Parimal: My favorite is Mr. Deepesh Wadhwani as he has great patience and explains the concepts well. He makes professionals from non-technical/non-coding backgrounds extremely comfortable.
Question 6: What is the goal of Data Science?
Parimal: Since Data is the new oil so the goal of Data Science is to understand data & derive business insights that add value to customers and improve the overall productivity of the organization.
Question 7: How has Data Science evolved in the last few years?
Parimal: There are varied applications of Data Science across industries, which help address complex business problems. There is a huge scope of growth across domains.
Question 8: What current trends in Data Science are you most excited about?
Parimal: As I’m from the Financial Service industry and there is a lot of customer data available which can be leveraged upon and various Data Science applications can be incorporated into everyday functions. I’m fascinated by the application of Data Science in the Financial Service domain.
Question 9: Which are some of the blogs that you follow?
Parimal: Currently I’m following Accredian blogs.
