In this Accredian Spotlight interview, we feature Sonali Fulchand Vanve, a Project Coordinator at Priority Infrastructure. Her quest for knowledge and passion for upskilling led her to enroll in the Global Certificate in Data Science Program at Accredian.
Question 1: What is your current work profile? Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Sonali: Currently I’m working as a Project Coordinator at Priority Infrastructure. I started my career as a Trainee at Electro Path services in Pune and later joined I-PAC Automation Private Limited as a Design Engineer. I finally moved to TCE Limited wherein, I worked on tasks like preparation of loop diagrams, JB schedule, and so on.
Later on, I got interested in Data Science and started researching different content on YouTube and finally decided to join Accredian and pursue a career in Data Science.
Question 2: Which program & batch are you a part of at Accredian?
Sonali: I’m a part of the Global Certificate in Data Science program, September 2020 batch.
Question 3: What tools and packages in Data Science & ML have you mastered in your program at Accredian so far?
Sonali: I’m on a learning curve of some of the basic technological patterns and statistics like Tableau. I work on the Jupyter Notebook and have also tried my hands-on Pandas to explore Exploratory Data Analysis.
Question 4: What challenges did you face in your Data Science journey? How did you overcome them?
Sonali: As I am from a non-coding background, learning Data Science is very new for me. When I started my Data Science journey at Accredian, I couldn’t remember what I was taught in class. Thus, I decided to overcome this problem. I started reading, practicing, and watching videos on YouTube. Eventually, these things helped me to get more in touch with Data Science.
Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian and what did you learn from them the most?
Sonali: My favorite faculty at Accredian is Suchit sir as his explanation is very simple with a lot of examples which helps in memorizing the concepts well. He taught us Exploratory Data Analysis in Data Science classes at Accredian.
Question 6: What is the goal of Data Science?
Sonali: The goal of Data Science is to explore, sort, and analyze the data from the resources to take the advantage of them and reach conclusions to optimize the business process or of all the decision support.
Question 7: What advice would you give to a Data Science beginner?
Sonali: Any person who wants to start a career in Data Science must understand the purpose and goal of learning Data Science. As we are aware that business growth is based on Data accumulation, so we should understand the process that goes into it, and how data helps to grow a business.
