At Accredian, we create accomplished and empowered Data Leaders. We groom our students to dominate the world of Data Science and AI and reshape their future. We value what our students bring to the table. We share their vision and support them during their journey and ensure that they carve a niche for themselves.
We’re proud to have tutored exceptional students all across India. Today, one such exceptional student, Abhimnew Kumar stands in the spotlight.
Student Name: Abhimnew Kumar
Current Organization: Nokia Networks
Batch: GCD – August 2019
Total years of experience: 13 years
Malvika: Hi Abhimnew, before we begin, could you tell us more about your current work profile?
Abhimnew: I am currently working as a Regional Quality Lead at Nokia Networks
where I work with a group of Quality Engineers.
These engineers are responsible for process and product implementation audit, development of competence and many other processes.
Malvika: What all tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at Accredian so far?
Abhimnew: I would like to mention NumPy for numerical computation, Pandas for data pre-processing and Scikit Learn for basic Machine Learning algorithms.
Malvika: What are some of the initial challenges you faced when you got started on your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?
Abhimnew: Initially, I was not confident enough whether I can do it or not being from a non-coder background.
So I started learning through YouTube channels, and different materials online to practice Python. programming. Later on, when I joined Accredian, Suchit helped me a lot with Pyhton and boosted all non-programmers’ confidence.
Now I’m very confident that I can do justice to programming in Python.
Malvika: What is the goal of Data Science? In your view, how has Data Science evolved in the last few years?
Abhimnew: The goal of Data Science is basically data-driven decision making.
Data Science answers how to effectively use your data for decision making in your day to day work.
When you have a set of data, you’re analyzing, cleaning, dealing with outliers and missing values and finding the relationship between the dependent and independent variables.
Then you see what you can predict out of this data. So basically, making sense of data with the available resources for decision making is the eventual goal of Data Science.
Malvika: Crafting a great Data Science resume is a critical part of getting shortlisted for Data Science roles. Tell us some ways in which you have improved your resume as part of Data Science Career Launchpad.
Abhimnew: These sessions were a great value-add because if you have 13 years of experience and a 6 pages long CV, what to keep and what to discard in your resume is a big question.
In this regard, the session was very helpful to build a proper resume and GitHub profile.
Malvika: What is your advice to anyone wanting to start a career in Data Science?
Abhimnew: The first thing would be to build self-confidence. Be confident that all you have to do is to work a little on a daily basis.
The second would be to maintain a stable pace. Learn whatever you have to and learn it slowly at a pace at which you can digest things.
Malvika: How has your journey with Accredian been so far? Do you have any comments on how the curriculum has been structured, the faculty and the support team?
Abhimnew: Suchit is undoubtedly one of my favorite faculty. We are lucky to have him.
He is very impactful in his way of teaching and it makes a lot of difference when he teaches a particular topic. I really enjoy his sessions.
Malvika: Thank you for your time, Abhimnew. All the best for your future!
