Student Name: Reddeiahraju Padmaraju
Current Organization: Tata Consultancy Services
Batch: GCDAI – April 2019
Total years of experience: 6 years

Malvika: Hi Reddeiahraju, before we begin, could you tell us more about your current work profile?

Reddeiahraju: I have a total experience of 5 years in the IT industry, mainly into the banking and digital domain.

I am a part of the Application Support Team so my role involves working on user incidents and managing and resolving user issues in applications, setting up automation for repetitive tasks and application monitoring.

Malvika: What got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?

Reddeiahraju: I like programming, I’m fairly good at coding.

Machine Learning models do require a lot of coding. At the same time, my skills in statistics are also strong and so I feel comfortable in developing and implementing algorithms.

Malvika: What all tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at Accredian so far?

Reddeiahraju: I have a good hold over Python and Linear and Logistic Regression up until now.

Malvika: What are the current trends in Data Science that you are most excited about?

Reddeiahraju: Being from a support background, I have to prepare loads of presentations.

So I’m very interested in using Tableau as a Data Visualization tool to prepare good Keynotes for our customers.

Malvika: At Accredian, students are encouraged to build high-quality GitHub profiles. Have you built a GitHub portfolio and how do you think this will help you?

Reddeiahraju: It is a great representation of whatever we have done.

The session made it very clear that we can represent and showcase our work and practices to programmers outside and we can share our knowledge with others as well.

Since the session, I am preparing to update all my codes there.

Malvika: Crafting a great Data Science resume is a critical part of getting shortlisted for Data Science roles. Tell us some ways in which you have improved your resume as part of Data Science Career Launchpad.

Reddeiahraju: I had created my resume before the session obviously but the format for the same changed very significantly after attending those sessions.

Along with resume, I also paid attention to my LinkedIn profile and built that around the action points from the session.

Malvika: Accredian’s mission is to Groom Data Leaders of tomorrow. What do you understand by a Data Leader? And how is a Data Leader different from a Data Scientist?

Reddeiahraju: A Data leader is one who can understand the insights from data and explain it to the customer or the client which can be profitable to the customer.

A Data Leader understands the client’s requirement and relays that to his team of Data Scientists and then helps present that analysis to the customer.

Malvika: Which are some of the blogs that you read? Which are the top two Data Science & AI influencers you follow?

Reddeiahraju: I do follow Medium and Andrew Ng. I try to stay updated in the field but I’m not happy with all the time I can dedicate to external reading.

Malvika: What is your advice to anyone wanting to start a career in Data Science?

Reddeiahraju:  Everyone knows that this is a trending technology and there is a lot of scope of the field and I will suggest to anybody who has the skillset and drive to give this a try.

We can use these data models and we can implement them anywhere across industries.

Malvika: Thank you for your time, Reddeiahraju. All the best for your future!
