Nitin Jain started his career as a web developer at a time when desktops were something out of this world – the late 90s. And now, to use data science and AI applications in his current organization, he wanted to study data science in India and enrolled for Certificate in Data Science Foundation (CDF) program at Accredian.
In this interview, lets see what he thinks of the evolution of data science and how his learning experience has been at Accredian.
Question 1: Which program & batch are you part of at Accredian & tell us more about your current work profile?
Nitin: I am part of the Certificate in Data Science Foundation (CDF) program, August 2020 batch. I am working as a Practice Head and oversee complete offshore development.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Nitin: I started my career in 1999 as a web developer. In 2003 I moved to ERP world & started as a technician in Dynamics Ax (Now it is D365 F&O). I was associated with companies like IBM & Microsoft.
While implementing ERP solutions, we need to get into the reporting side as well where we are responsible to provide better data insights to customer management. This made me think about Data Science and star to study data science in India. And now, as we are also looking towards AI using MS cloud services so I thought this program would be a great upskilling opportunity for me and took it up.
Question 3: What all tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at Accredian so far?
Nitin: So far, I have learned Python and its libraries like Numpy, Seaborn using Jupyter notebooks.
Question 4: What were some of the initial challenges when you got started on your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?
Nitin: After a long time, recalling statistics was a challenge. The instructor was good & helped to recall the concepts. I also spent some time refreshing stats.
Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian and what did you learn from him the Most?
Nitin: Suchit is a good instructor. He helped a lot in Python & data analysis. He has in-depth knowledge in this area and has great presentation skills.
Question 6: What is the goal of Data Science?
Nitin: The goal of Data Science is to extract information from raw data to help businesses and stakeholders make better decisions in their day to day work.
Question 7: In your view, how has Data Science evolved in the last few years?
Nitin: Within the last one decade, data has become fuel for any business. Right now we have facilities to store and manipulate data easily. Also, the source for data capture is numerous and we have unlimited opportunities to get information.
Using mobile, GPS, social websites, etc. we can get information about individuals easily. We can find out about their behaviour, interest, social and economical information quickly and easily through starting to study data science in India.
