Meet Anuja, a student in Accredian’s GCDAI program and a member of the October 2021 cohort. Coming from a background in software development and previously part of an audit function team, Anuja has always had a passion for coding and learning trending technologies. With data science and machine learning becoming increasingly popular, Anuja made the decision to enroll in Accredian’s program during her career break.
Question 1: Which program & batch are you part of at Accredian & tell us more about your current work profile?
Anuja: I have enrolled in the GCDAI program at Accredian, and I’m part of the October 2021 cohort. Currently, I’m on a career break. As part of my last work profile, I was part of an audit function team, and my main responsibility was to deploy software processes across all the verticals in my organization and help them achieve CMI certification.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Anuja: I started my career journey as a Software Developer, and I have always had a passion for coding and learning trending technologies. If you talk about the trend today, it’s all about data science and machine learning. That’s how I decided to do this course with Accredian.
Question 3: What all tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at Accredian so far?
Anuja: So, here we have been taught data science using the Python framework. As part of data analysis, we have used NumPy and Pandas, and for data visualization, we have learned the Seaborn and Matplotlib packages. We have also learned about the Tableau tool for data visualization and have completed some projects using it.
Question 4: What are some of the initial challenges when you got started on your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?
Anuja: Okay, so I think the biggest challenge was going back to study and learning mode after so many years. When we started this course, we began with a topic called “Statistics and Probability“, and I was really scared. I trust that my batchmates would echo this sentiment.
But I must say, the faculty at Accredian has made this entire journey so easy, and they have made topics like probability easy for us to understand.
Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian and what did you learn from him the most?
Anuja: This is a tricky question because all of them are good. I must say, they are all exceptionally good in delivering content in their domain, and each one of them has their own unique style of teaching that makes complex topics easy for us to understand.
Question 6: What is the goal of Data Science?
Anuja: The goal of data science is to understand how valuable information is flowing into a business, and then identify insights from this data and information that are business-centric. With this understanding, we can identify new business opportunities.
Question 7: What are the current trends in Data Science that you are most excited about?
Anuja: We just completed Sequence Modeling and Computer Vision for image processing, and they were super interesting. We also worked on some case studies, and I was really excited to work on them.
When I got the results, I felt like I had achieved something. I’m looking forward to the next term, which will enhance our understanding of these two topics even further.
Question 8: Which are some of the blogs that you follow?
Anuja: I follow these four blogs: AnalyticsVindhya, Towards Data Science, Medium, and Simply Statistics. They have very nice content, and sometimes they provide a different perspective on data science.
