In this Accredian Spotlight interview, we feature Dr. Abhishek Singh, a Product Manager with over 7 years of experience. He is currently associated with Himalaya Wellness Company. His insatiable quest for knowledge and upskilling led him to enrol in the Global Certificate in Product Management at Accredian.
Question 1: Which program & batch are you part of at Accredian & tell us more about your current work profile?
I am part of GCPM at Accredian, July Batch 2021. I am working in Himalaya wellness company as Product Manager in the Animal Health division.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Product Management?
I have pursued my postgraduate from DUVASU Mathura (Mathura Vet. University) in 2014, having 3+ years of experience as a Technical Manager in Kemin South Asia Pvt. Ltd. and more than 3+ years of experience as Product Manager in Himalaya drug company.
Question 3: What all Product Management concepts, frameworks & tools have you mastered in your program at Accredian so far?
I think I am good now in Data Analysis as I have no experience in software or IT background and most of the classes after term-1 are based on the same. But I like and enjoy the first term classes.
Question 4: What are some of the initial challenges when you got started on your Product Management journey and how did you overcome it?
Since I am from a technical background, I have not taken any course on marketing. So initially it took time to understand the marketing aspect, but term-1 helped me out with that.
Question 5: Who is your favourite faculty at Accredian and what did you learn from them the most?
If you ask me about the faculty, everyone is good and they have explained each and everything marvelously. I like the term-1 program as it is basic and for everyone whether they are from software or non-software backgrounds.
Question 6: In your view, what is the goal of product management & how has it evolved in the last few years?
The goal of Product Management is to make you a good marketer, who makes their product a successful brand in the market.
Question 7: What are the current trends in Product Management that you are most excited about?
Product Management in itself is exciting to me.
Question 8: Which are some of the Product Management blogs, podcasts, communities & channels that you follow?
I like to read more blogs from Accredian and watch YouTube videos of Vivek Bindra.
Question 9: Please tell how your journey has been with Accredian so far and what are the elements that you liked.
My journey with Accredian is very good and I am loving all the well curated classes.
Question 10: What is your advice to anyone wanting to start a career in Product Management?
If you are interested in Product Management, you should definitely try and upskill yourself. I will suggest the newbies to take a chance and enroll with PM classes at Accredian.
