Q1. Tell us about your current role and background.
My name is Ankita Bhanushali, I am residing in Mumbai and I’ve been a student at Accredian for the GCD program, March 2020. Currently, I’m working at firstsource as the Senior Executive, Analytics. It’s a hybrid role of Data Science and Data Analysis.
Q2. What challenges did you face while exploring a Data Science role?
The challenges that I faced during my transition were Data science related. I was a Data analyst, but the companies wanted someone who has hands-on experience in their Data science project and also had a master’s in coding. So that was the most challenging part.
Q3. How has Data Science helped you in your new role?
I’m currently on a training period, but Data science projects, assignments, theory along with practice has helped me a lot.
Q4. What was the interview experience at your current company?
There were 4 rounds in total-
- Resume Screening
- Interview- 2 technical rounds
- Practical round
- HR round
The first step was the resume screening, followed by an interview call. In the interview, there were 2 technical rounds in which I was asked questions on domain knowledge as well as the Data science tools and machine learning algorithm.
In the 3rd round, I was assigned one task which I had to do in Python and followed by another round where I had to explain how I did that task, which algorithm I used and why I used that algorithm. I was selected after the final HR round.
Q5. Why Accredian? How did it help you?
I joined Accredian because I wanted to move to Data science. Being a non programmer, Python was tough. At Accredian, I’ve learned to use the most important Python libraries for Data science tasks covering areas such as the Data processing, modeling and visualizations on NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib.
Also the Data science Career Launchpad and Career Wednesday test sessions are highly informative. They help us to enhance our skills and go further towards building a new resume, preparing, cracking with the right tools, and also polishing our LinkedIn and GitHub profiles.
Q6. What advice would you give to Data Science beginners?
I would say simply focus on the practical applications and not just theory. This will help you not only to understand the concept, but also to give you a deeper sense of how they will be applied in real life scenarios.
