In this Accredian Spotlight interview, we feature Varsha Rani, an Assistant Manager at Thomas Cook. Her insatiable passion for knowledge and upskilling led her to enroll in the Certification in Data Science Foundation program at Accredian.
Question 1: Which program & batch are you a part of at Accredian & tell us more about your current work profile?
Varsha: I’m from CDF July 2021 cohort. I am working in the Tourism sector handling workflow management systems, team handling, client dealing, and process improvement.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Varsha: I started my career as a travel coordinator who deals with multiple corporate accounts, handles tickets and escalation issues. I’ve been keen to work on Data sites as Data Scientists have a wide variety of skill sets that can leverage Data and information to help organizations to make better strategic decisions and that is how I got inspired to become a Data Scientist.
Question 3: What tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered at Accredian so far?
Varsha: I’m learning packages like Python and basics of Statistics, NumPy, Pandas, and practicing coding on Jupyter Notebook and Google Collab.
Question 4: What challenges did you face when you started on your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?
Varsha: Being from a non-technical background the concepts of Statistics and coding were new so I practiced and went through the study material offered at Accredian. I overcame the challenge by regular practice and referred to the starter kits.
Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian and what did you learn from them?
Varsha: Among the faculty, Deepesh and Suchit are my favorites. I loved the way they explained the concepts with examples and enhanced my analytical problem-solving skills.
Question 6: What is the goal of Data Science?
Varsha: The purpose of Data Science is to take large volumes of complex data, extract meaningful Insights and help solve problems to improve business processes.
Question 7: How has Data Science evolved in the last few years?
Varsha: With the usage of Data Analytics, we can get recommendations of commodities online based on our preferences and viewing. It has evolved a lot over the past few years. It aims at collecting, processing, analyzing, and presenting data to help companies or organizations in making crucial business decisions as per the customer needs and preferences.
Question 8: What current trends in Data Science are you most excited about?
Varsha: It’s Artificial Intelligence Automation. With the fast-paced development of AI technology and capability, the amount of usable and trance, mutable data has increased exponentially. Cloud computing is a strong trend, it offers the ability for any Data Scientist from anywhere to access virtually limitless processing power and storage capacity, and many more innovations are being developed each day.
So in the coming years, Data Science jobs will become the most demanding jobs in the market.
Question 9: Which Data Science blogs do you follow?
Varsha: I follow Accredian’s YouTube channel and online content as it gives a vast understanding of the Data Science & AI concepts.
Question 10: What advice would you give to a beginner in Data Science?
Varsha: Data Science has become a lucrative career and requires a beginner to be knowledgeable and skilled at Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, and Business acumen. These skills would help them to identify patterns and help the organization recognize new market opportunities to grow exponentially.
