In this Accredian Spotlight interview, we feature Sanjib Kumar Jena, Test Lead, Data Scientist, IBM. His insatiable passion for knowledge and upskilling led him to enroll in the Data Science & Artificial Intelligence program at Accredian.
Question 1: What is your current work profile? Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Sanjib: I’m a Tech Lead handling multiple projects and implementing my knowledge and Data Science skill set at work. I’ve transitioned to the field of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence as the future lies in AI.
Question 2: Which program & batch are you a part of at Accredian?
Sanjib: I’m a part of Global Certificate in Data Science & AI (GCDAI), January 2020 batch.
Question 3: What tools and packages in Data Science & ML have you mastered in your program at Accredian so far?
Sanjib: I have learned and mastered my skills in Jupyter Notebook, Google Colab, Python, NumPy, Panda, ML, Linear regression for AI, Computer Vision and NLP.
Question 4: What challenges did you face in your Data Science journey? How did you overcome them?
Sanjib: Initially I had a problem of what model to use in Machine Learning and was not confident enough with Neurons Model as well. Later, I practiced and overcame this. In fact, Accredian classes and doubt clearing sessions have been extremely helpful.
Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian and what did you learn from them the most?
Sanjib: My favorite faculty members at Accredian are Subhodeep, Lavi Nigam and Deepesh Wadhwani.
I have learned and used Deep Learning basics and advanced techniques that further helped me understand Machine Learning models. The AI part is nicely explained with all concepts and models.
Question 6: What is the goal of Data Science?
Sanjib: The goal of Data Science is to gather knowledge of Math, Statistics and Programming languages like Python to work with Big Data and offer Business solutions.
Question 7: In your view, how has Data Science evolved in the last few years?
Sanjib: In my view, Data Science and AI are evolving very rapidly as Data is available in large volumes for analysis and for future implementation.
Question 8: What are the current trends in Data Science that you are most excited about?
Sanjib: The current trends in Data Science are Automation in Machine Learning and Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing in AI.
Question 9: Which are some of the Data Science blogs that you follow?
Sanjib: I follow some blogs which help me understand AI and ML models implemented from beginning to end.
Question 10: What advice would you give to a Data Science beginner?
Sanjib: Data Science and AI is the future so a beginner in this field should know about the functionality of Data Science.
