How Archit got placed at Amazon as a Business Intelligence Engineer I Accredian Success Story

Accredian Success Story - Archit Jain

In today’s Accredian Success Story, we introduce you to Archit Jain who is a Business Intelligence Engineer at Amazon and was a part of the GCD, 2021 batch at Accredian. He shares his journey of achieving success and landing a career in the Data Science industry. Get to know more about him as he guides us through this amazing process.

Q1. Tell us about your current role and background.

Hi, everyone, my name is Archit Jain. Currently, I’m pursuing BTech from IP University in information technology and will graduate in July 2022.

As of now, I’m working with a startup called Rezo.ai as a business analyst intern and will be joining Amazon as a full time data analyst, also called Business Intelligence engineer after my graduation.

As a business analyst intern at Rezo.ai, my work basically is to understand the data that comes to us whether it’s of the client or of the company itself, and then to find out the insights that would help the business grow. We use Excel, Python, SQL, Tableau and basically, these tools to understand the data better.

And I believe my role in Amazon would be almost the same as here, since it is a data analyst role, it would, you know, revolve around data, where they would use the same tools. My background is in engineering and in information technology from IP University.

Q2. What challenges did you face while exploring a Data Science role?

I wanted to talk about this. As an undergraduate, I must tell you, it is really, really, really difficult to get a data science role, because when it comes to that, companies expect either a master’s degree or experience in the same field.

So being an undergraduate, it was really tough to find a role in data science. Basically may it be data analysts, data science, machine learning or anything, experience and a higher degree matter.

But yeah, I consider myself lucky, when a company like Amazon visited college for the same and I cracked it in one go like, it was the only shot that I had. So the most difficult thing while exploring the data science role was the experience part.

Q3. How has Data Science helped you in your new role?

So basically, this is my seventh internship that I’m doing in my four years of undergraduate program. All my internships have been in the field of data science, like data analysts or business analysts

So I would say data science has been a part of my life for the past two years, since when I started doing internships. It is data science only that has helped me grow in my career. And this is what I want to do in the future as well. So from the start till now, it has only been data science.

Q4. What was the interview experience at your current company?

So, while interviewing at Amazon, there were a total of 3 rounds, two technical and the third one is called the bar raisers round. So if I talk about the first technical round, it was full of Python and SQL and a little bit of relational databases related questions.

They were expecting a little bit of knowledge about DBMS, Python in depth and a little bit of SQL

Then in the second interview, it revolved around the visualization part. They asked me about all the charts that can be used in a real world scenario, how can we draw them in Tableau? What are their real world significance like line plot, scatter plot, bar plot, pie chart, etc.

Then they also gave some case studies to solve real world problems. The interviewer gave me some data and asked me to provide a matrix for this data at that particular moment.

Then in the third round, the bar is a round with a very professionally experienced person who comes in and takes the interview. It is more like an HR round. It is not a technical interview exactly.

They asked you how you would help the company and what makes you different from other people?

They basically discuss one of your projects, whichever you want, and then ask you what you did in this project uniquely, that others would not have had and basically the BR round is an easy one.

If you know the answers to their questions. They don’t talk about technical stuff, they talk about how you would help Amazon grow and how you are different from others.

Q5. Why Accredian? How did it help you?

So Accredian showed on my Instagram post one day and it was around, when you were doing the Saturday-Sunday session for free, if I guessed correctly that was trial class where you can register and join the meeting and understand the difference between data analysis and data science and how will Accredian help you study those subjects.

So, when I registered for the same, in December 2020 then I was fascinated by the knowledge and the expertise that Suchit where initially he had taken that session.

So the way he described and explained everything, got me feeling overwhelmed. And I was like, yeah, this institute will help me achieve my goal. So I joined the program in January 2021.

And after that, I learned a lot of things like, data analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence and Accredian helped me in each and every internship that I got through. That knowledge Accredian provided and the projects that I had done helped me gain my confidence.

And yeah, it is Accredian only that I would thank for getting placed at Amazon

Q6. What advice would you give to Data Science beginners?

Okay, so if I talk about freshers or undergraduates, I would say, first of all, start by Googling and going through the internet for self research.

And if you are sure that you are liking it and generating an interest in this field, then you should join Accredian for guidance and direction as these guys are really experienced and know what they are doing.

So they could really help you. And if I talk about professionals, a professional should join Accredian for guidance, motivation and direction as they have the experience but they don’t know how to start.

If you want to be a part of the data science community and achieve something in the future, you guys should join Accredian for a better future and for achieving more in the field of data science.
