Working as QA Manager, Niveditha MR is deeply involved in functional testing and automation. When she came across data science, she got instantly interested and wanted to learn more about data science from scratch. So, she enrolled for the Global Certificate in Data Science (GCDAI) program at Accredian.
In this interview lets see how she plans to use her data science lessons at work and how her experience has been at Accredian.
Question 1: Which program & batch are you part of at Accredian & tell us more about your current work profile?
Niveditha: I am a part of the Global Certificate in Data Science & AI (GCDAI) program, July 2020 batch. I come from the supply chain domain. To be precise, I work on an order management product called Sterling.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Niveditha: I basically perform functional testing. Now there is significantly less or I can say no demand for manual testing. However, I am currently working on building automation expertise. When I came across data science and attended the first session provided by Suchit, I was instantly hooked to it as it revolves around my skills and interests, and wanted to learn data science from scratch.
Question 3: What tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at Accredian so far?
Niveditha: So far, I have learned Python, NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib and Seaborn. There are many more which I will be learning during my journey with Accredian, and I’m looking forward to it.
Question 4: What are some initial challenges when you got started on your Data Science journey, and how did you overcome them?
Niveditha: The weekend class timings from eight to 10 am was a bit challenging for me. Usually on weekends, I get up late and just relax. But now, I wake up early with the thought of learning data science from scratch.
Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at Accredian, and what did you learn from him the Most?
Niveditha: Deepesh is very good at explaining the topics in detail with various industry examples. Also, he’s very patient. He made sure everyone understands the topic well and answered all the queries of his students. Darshan is also quite good though we have attended only two classes. He makes sure he answers all the questions of the students and offers in-depth explanations.
Question 6: In your view, how has Data Science evolved in the last few years?
Niveditha: Earlier, there was not enough data, but there is enough data available now. Every second, some billions of data are being collected. Data scientists analyze this data to build improved models and cater to business decision making.
Question 7: Which are some of the blogs that you follow?
Niveditha: I follow Accredian blog, Medium, Kaggle, and GitHub.
